Recipe courtesy:
I followed most of the steps from the above recipe, except for a few changes.
So here is my version.
Ingredients
Tomatoes medium sized - 4
Paneer cubes - 250 g
Onion medium sized - 3
Garlic cloves - 3
Garam masala powder - 1tsp
Red chilli powder - 1tsp
Salt - add to taste
Kasoori methi - 2 tbsp
Boiled Milk - 3 cups
Cashews - 1/4 cup
Butter - 2 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Preparation
1) Cut 4 medium sized tomatoes and 3 medium sized onions and grind them to a paste. Strain it to form a smooth paste.
2) Soak cashews in water till they become soft(5-10 mins) and grind the same. Add water if needed while grinding.
2) Melt butter in the pan and add garlic cloves(2-3) and saute it.
3) Keep it at low flame and add the ground tomato/onion paste and cook till the raw smell of onions/tomatoes is gone (10-15 mins approx)
4) Add red chilli powder, salt, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and stir well.
5) Now add the ground cashew paste and two cups of milk and mix well.
6) Close with a lid and cook on low flame for 10 mins with occasional stirring.
7) Meanwhile dry fry the kasoori methi and keep aside.
8) Cut the paneer into cubes (or whatever shape you like).
9) The sauce will start thickening at this stage. Now add the remaining cup of milk and the paneer cubes.
10) Rub kasoori methi between your palms on to the sauce and mix the ingredients well.
11) Close with the lid again and cook for another 5 minutes.
Very yummy paneer butter masala is ready.
Serve with rotis or rice.
